MapMonkey processes GPX files entirely in your browser. When you upload a file or pick a sample route, the parsing, map rendering, and elevation calculations all happen on your device — your route data is not sent to any server we operate.
If you use the "Save trip" feature, your route data is stored locally in your browser's storage (localStorage) on the device you're using. It is not uploaded to us or any third party, is not synced across devices, and will be lost if you clear your browser data. Clearing it is entirely in your control via your browser settings.
Map tiles are loaded from OpenFreeMap / OpenStreetMap contributors. Loading map tiles may expose your IP address to that service, consistent with normal web map usage.
